Today, I stand before you to shed light on the remarkable achievements and contributions of a true leader and a shining example within our university community – Comrade Arise Oluwaseyi Victor. As the one-time president of the Public Health Science Department at the prestigious Kwara State University, the Secretary General of NAPHS Southwest/Northern regions coalition, and the Public Relations Officer of NAKSS for the 2021/2022 session, Comrade Arise has left an indelible mark on the student body through his unwavering dedication, outstanding leadership skills, and passion for making a difference.

One of the defining qualities of a great leader is the ability to inspire and empower others. Comrade Arise possesses this quality in abundance. He has shown exceptional leadership skills by organizing numerous events, workshops, and seminars, which have not only enriched the knowledge of the students but also promoted unity and collaboration among them. As the President of the Public Health Science Department, he always encouraged and motivated his fellow students to actively participate in extracurricular activities, thereby fostering a vibrant and inclusive academic community.

Comrade Arise’s commitment to public health is truly commendable. He understands that the health of individuals is intertwined with the prosperity of society as a whole. This belief is reflected in his numerous initiatives aimed at raising awareness about pressing health issues and promoting preventive measures. One of his most notable accomplishments was organizing a health walk and talk campaign on campus through the Africa Public Health Students Network Initiative where he currently serves as the Volunteer Profram Leader of the Nigeria National Working group. The programs co-hosted by him are highly remarkable and lies where students have received education on topics such as Antimicrobial resistance, mental health and psychological well-being, sexual reproductive health, and personal hygiene. His efforts have undoubtedly contributed to creating a healthier and more informed and healthier community.

 

As Albert Einstein famously said, “The only source of knowledge is experience.” Comrade Arise embodies this quote as he consistently seeks out valuable experiences and opportunities to broaden his horizons. His involvement as the Secretary General of NAPHS Northern Axis and the Public Relations Officer of NAKSS has provided him with a platform to connect with students from different backgrounds, exchange ideas, and promote student welfare. Through his role, he has successfully advocated for improvements in various areas, including hostel conditions, academic provisions, and student safety.

 

The comrade’s achievement to become the NYSC Charity and Gender CDS president in Delta State is not only a personal triumph but also a shining example to others to fostering humanitarian services and charitable dwelling with others. It further demonstrates that hard work, dedication, and the refusal to give up in the face of adversity can pave the way to success.

 

Comrades, it is crucial to recognize that Comrade Arise’s journey to leadership has not been without challenges. He has faced obstacles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. However, it is his resilience and determination to overcome hurdles that truly make him an exceptional leader. He understands that setbacks are mere stepping stones towards success and that true leaders are defined by their ability to rise above adversity.

Comrade Arise Oluwaseyi Victor has proven himself to be an extraordinary leader, a champion of public health, and a role model for all. His dedication, passion, and commitment to serving the student community are truly commendable. As we move forward, let us draw inspiration from his journey and strive to become leaders who bring positive change to our own communities. Remember the words of Nelson Mandela, who said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Let us be inspired by Comrade Arise’s example and utilize our education to create a brighter and better future for all.
